Kids Week is loads of fun...In fact, it’s so fun, kids don’t even realize how much teaching we sneak into their summer, disguised by singing, dancing, video games, competitions and awesome sauce!
So, what exactly will your kids be learning?
In video games, a ‘POWER UP’ gives you a new life or ability. It’s kind of like when you get a mushroom in Super Mario and grow, or you hit a special question mark box in Mario Kart and get super speed! A Power Up can even take you to a new level within the game! In life, God has given us a chance to tap into the ULTIMATE POWER UP! 2 Peter 1:3a says, “God’s power has given us everything we need to lead a Godly life.” God’s gift to us is the most mega-awesome power up EVER!
Here are some highlights of the lessons throughout the week:
God wants you to know Him
God calls everyone out of their comfort zone at some point in their lives in order for them to learn more about who He is. God loves everyone immensely and wants us to live with Him in the goodness He created. So, of course God wants everyone to know Him and knowing God starts with building a strong foundation for your relationship.
You can know God through His Word
Once we have the foundation of a relationship with God, we can continue to learn from God through the Bible. All Scripture is God-breathed, and, as we read it, we can discover new wisdom from God. God’s Word gives us insight on how to view and shape our lives through our interpretation of the Scriptures.
God sent Jesus to save us
We believe that Jesus came to save us from the sinfulness inside that keeps us separated from him. Through His ultimate sacrifice, we’re born again into new life with Him.
God sent His spirit to help you
God doesn’t expect people to do everything without help. After all, we all fall short of God’s glory. However, God’s spirit lives inside us and gives us promptings that we can learn to recognize. This can help give us the strength and courage to do the hard tasks we will encounter when living for and with God.
We are so excited to cover these BIG ROCKS of truth and faith with your kiddos this week! We are pumped about some of the hilarious and silly ways we get to communicate to kids – but we are also SO PUMPED about the really deep questions and conversations we get to share. We want your kids to learn valuable life lessons and truths they can build the rest of their lives on and Kids Week is the perfect environment for them to do that!
The last piece of Kids Week I want to give you is the memory verse! Your kids will memorize this verse through the week:
“God’s power has given us everything we need to lead a godly life.” (2 Peter 1:3a)
