Sermons / Cause and Effect / Week 6 - Panic Proof Peace
Sermon Notes
Am I living out the power of the resurrection in my life?
What We've Learned So Far:
We often do not see Jesus at work, until we look back on our trial.
As followers of Christ, the issue isn’t that we do not believe, it may be we do not believe properly.
Jesus eagerly desires to be invited into our lives but waits for our invitation.
Luke 24:34
. . . “The Lord has really risen! He appeared to Peter.”
I believe. I just don’t understand.
Luke 24:36
And just as they were telling about it, Jesus himself was suddenly standing there among them. “Peace be with you,” he said.
Luke 24:37
But the whole group was startled and frightened, thinking they were seeing a ghost!
Philippians 3:21
He will take our weak mortal bodies and change them into glorious bodies like his own, using the same power with which he will bring everything under his control.
Old Testament builds on CREATION power.
Jeremiah 32:17
“O Sovereign Lord! You made the heavens and earth by your strong hand and powerful arm. Nothing is too hard for you!”
New Testament builds on RESURRECTION power.
Romans 8:11
The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, he will give life to your mortal bodies by this same Spirit living within you.
Luke 24:36
And just as they were telling about it, Jesus himself was suddenly standing there among them. “Peace be with you,” he said.
Luke 2:29–30
“Sovereign Lord, now let your servant die in peace, as you have promised. I have seen your salvation
Luke 7:50
. . . “Your faith has saved you; go in peace.”
Luke 24:38–39
“Why are you frightened?” he asked. “Why are your hearts filled with doubt? Look at my hands. Look at my feet. You can see that it’s really me. Touch me and make sure that I am not a ghost, because ghosts don’t have bodies, as you see that I do.”
Colossians 1:20
…and through him, God reconciled everything to himself. He made peace with everything in heaven and on earth by means of Christ’s blood on the cross.
Faith Proper—follow all the rules.
Faith of Desperation—change our circumstances.
Faith of Sufficiency—God is with us.
