Sermon Notes
Faith defined – Faith is the confidence that Jesus is who he says he is and he will keep every promise he has made to us.
Faith foundation – Faith is based on Jesus alone, who he is and what he has already done for us.
Faith directive – Faith always leads to action.
“A little bit of faith in Jesus is worth way more than a ton of faith in anything else.”
Have you ever had a moment in your life, where you wished you had more faith?
Genesis 6:9
“Noah was a righteous man, blameless among the people of his time, and he walked faithfully with God.”
Faith matures through shared experiences over time as we walk with God in the same direction.
Genesis 6:12
“The Lord saw how great the wickedness of the human race had become on the earth, and that every inclination of the thoughts of the human heart was only evil all the time. The Lord regretted that he had made human beings on the earth, and his heart was deeply troubled.”
Hebrews 11:7
“It was by faith that Noah built a large boat to save his family from the flood. He obeyed God, who warned him about things that had never happened before. By his faith Noah condemned the rest of the world, and he received the righteousness that comes by faith.”
Genesis 6:22
“Noah did everything just as God commanded him.”
“Faith always leads to action.”
2 Peter 3:9
“The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.”
I Peter 3:18-22
For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. He was put to death in the body but made alive in the Spirit. After being made alive, he went and made proclamation to the imprisoned spirits—to those who were disobedient long ago when God waited patiently in the days of Noah while the ark was being built. In it only a few people, eight in all, were saved through water, and this water symbolizes baptism that now saves you also—not the removal of dirt from the body but the pledge of a clear conscience toward God. It saves you by the resurrection of Jesus Christ, who has gone into heaven and is at God’s right hand—with angels, authorities and powers in submission to him.”
Faith matures through shared experiences over time as we walk with God in the same direction.
John 3:16-17
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.”
Romans 6:10,11
“The death he (Jesus) died, he died to sin once for all; but the life he lives, he lives to God. In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus.”
The simple answer of how to have more faith is to act in faith.
Ask God what step of faith you can take this week and DO IT. Then tell someone about what you’ve done.
