Sermon Notes

2 Samuel 11:2-4 (NLT)

Late one afternoon, after his midday rest, David got out of bed and was walking on the roof of the palace. As he looked out over the city, he noticed a woman of unusual beauty taking a bath. He sent someone to find out who she was, and he was told, “She is Bathsheba, the daughter of Eliam and the wife of Uriah the Hittite.” Then David sent messengers to get her…

1 Samuel 17:45-46 (NIV)

David said to the Philistine, “You come against me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the LORD Almighty, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied. This day the LORD will deliver you into my hands, and I’ll strike you down and cut off your head…and the whole world will know that there is a God in Israel.”

Psalm 73:16-17 (NIV)

1 Corinthians 10:31 (NIV)

Colossians 1:15-17 (NLT)

Christ is the visible image of the invisible God. He existed before anything was created and is supreme over all creation, for through him God created everything in the heavenly realms and on earth. He made the things we can see and the things we can’t see—such as thrones, kingdoms, rulers, and authorities in the unseen world. Everything was created through him and for him. He existed before anything else, and he holds all creation together.

Colossians 1:15-16 (MSG)

We look at this Son and see God’s original purpose in everything created. For everything, absolutely everything, above and below, visible and invisible, rank after rank after rank of angels—everything got started in him and finds its purpose in him. He was there before any of it came into existence and holds it all together right up to this moment.

1 Samuel 17:37 (NIV)

The LORD who rescued me from the paw of the lion and the paw of the bear will rescue me from the hand of this Philistine.

Praising God for his PAST FAITHFULNESS helps us with our present pain.

Daniel 3:16-18 (NIV)

Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego replied to him, “King Nebuchadnezzar, we do not need to defend ourselves before you in this matter. If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to deliver us from it, and he will deliver us from Your Majesty’s hand. But even if he does not, we want you to know, Your Majesty, that we will not serve your gods or worship the image of gold you have set up.”

Exodus 17:14-15 (NIV)

Then the LORD said to Moses, “Write this on a scroll as something to be remembered…Moses built an altar and called it The LORD is my Banner.”

Psalm 27:1,3-5 (GNT)

The LORD is my light and my salvation; I will fear no one. The LORD protects me from all danger; I will never be afraid. Even if a whole army surrounds me, I will not be afraid; even if enemies attack me, I will still trust God. I have asked the LORD for one thing; one thing only do I want: to live in the LORD's house all my life, to marvel there at his goodness, and to ask for his guidance. In times of trouble he will shelter me.
