Sermon Notes

Does “Christ in us” make a difference in everyday life?

How does “Christ in us” happen?

Who Christ is— Jesus is the image of the invisible God.

Mystery—Christ in you, the hope of glory.

“Christ in you” is the best shot at living the life God had in mind when he created you.

God will do what only he can do, but he won’t do what you need to do.

1. Jesus knows how creation works best

2. God is good and God loves you.

Answer: God loves you and desires the best possible outcome for all parts of your life.

God’s commandments to us are not conditional to receive His love. They are confirmation that we already have it.

Colossians 3:17 And whatever you do or say, do it as a representative of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through him to God the Father.

Colossians 3:18 Wives, submit to your husbands. . .

A wife voluntarily puts herself under the leadership of her husband for the purpose of achieving the same common goal, a relationship that models the relationship God the Father has with His son

Colossians 3:18 Wives, submit to your husbands, as is fitting for those who belong to the Lord.

Marriage doesn’t change character.

Colossians 3:19 Husbands, love your wives

Colossians 3:19 Husbands, love your wives and never treat them harshly.

Husbands, we have a position of responsibility, not a position of power and our main leadership muscle is sacrificial serving.

Colossians 3:20-21 20 Children, always obey your parents, for this pleases the Lord. 21 Fathers, do not aggravate your children, or they will become discouraged.

The best way to lead your wife, your husband and your children will always be from the overflow of Christ in you, changing and leading you.

1. Pride

2. Fear

How does a man become a “Christ in me” husband and father?

How does a woman become a “Christ in me” wife of mother?

How does a kid become a “Christ in me” person who pleases the Lord?

Start by asking Jesus to live in me.

Choose to begin putting yourself in a better position for the transforming grace of Jesus to get to work in you.

Goal—one day, Christ in me is all my family sees.
