Project 20 - Relational Evangelism

Sermon Notes

We learn much about an organization and people by what they value.

  • Biblical authority
  • Relational Intimacy with God

Romans 8:38–39

For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

  • Authentic Community

We value real people living real lives wrestling with real problems in the light of a real Gospel.

  • Gifted Service
  • Excellent Environments

Luke 19:10

For the Son of Man came to seek and to save what was lost.

Mark 2:17

On hearing this, Jesus said to them, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”

Matthew 28:16–20

Jesus came and told his disciples, “I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”

  • Relational Evangelism

We will intentionally leverage our influence in the world for the purpose of introducing people to the transforming love of Christ.

John 1:38

When Jesus turned and saw them following, he said to them, “What are you looking for?” They said to him, “Rabbi”, “where are you staying?”

Psalm 23:6

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord my whole life long

John 1:39

He said to them, “Come and see.”

John 1:43-46

The next day Jesus decided to go to Galilee. He found Philip and said to him, “Follow me.” . . . Philip found Nathanael and said to him, “We have found him about whom Moses in the law and also the prophets wrote. . . Philip said to him, “Come and see.”

Matthew 28:5–7

The angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay. Then go quickly and tell his disciples: ‘He has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him.’ Now I have told you.”

The greatest gift you can give another human being is an introduction to Jesus Christ.
