  • On religious and urban-rural conflicts, the U.S. has the third-highest share saying there are conflicts in each case. The only places where a larger share holds these views are France and South Korea.

"Once you have the right relationship with God through salvation and sanctification, remember that whatever your circumstances may be, you have been placed in them by God. And God uses the reaction of your life to your circumstances to fulfill his purpose, as long as you continue to “walk in the light as He is in the light” (1 John 1:7)."

--Oswald Chambers

Genesis 39:21–23 (NIV84)

the Lord was with him; he showed him kindness and granted him favor in the eyes of the prison warden. So the warden put Joseph in charge of all those held in the prison, and he was made responsible for all that was done there. The warden paid no attention to anything under Joseph’s care, because the Lord was with Joseph and gave him success in whatever he did.

Genesis 39:11–12 (NIV84)

One day he went into the house to attend to his duties, and none of the household servants was inside. (Potiphar’s wife) caught him by his cloak and said, “Come to bed with me!” But he left his cloak in her hand and ran out of the house.

Genesis 37:19–20 (NIV84)

“Here comes that dreamer!” they said to each other. “Come now, let’s kill him and throw him into one of these cisterns and say that a ferocious animal devoured him. Then we’ll see what comes of his dreams.”

Genesis 39:21–23 (NIV84)

the Lord was with him; he showed him kindness and granted him favor in the eyes of the prison warden. When we are in conflict, we are not only acted upon, we are acting.

"Nothing has done greater damage to the Christian testimony than our trying to be right and demanding right of others. We become preoccupied with what is right and what is not right. We ask ourselves, “Have we been treated justly or unjustly?” and we use this to vindicate our actions.

But justice is not our standard . . . You ask me, “Is it right for someone to strike me on my cheek?” I reply, “Of course not, but do you want only to be right . . . Right and wrong is the principle of Gentiles and tax gatherers. Our lives are to be governed by the cross and by the perfection of the Father."

--Watchman Nee

"Holiness is not simply what God gives me, but what God has given me that is being exhibited in my life."

--Oswald Chambers

If you find yourself in conflict you are standing at the intersection of your past and your future.

To go forward is to choose your own behavior, not according to what was done to you . . . but according to the way that is in you. To go forward is to be free.

Genesis 50:20–21 (NIV84)

You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives. So then, don’t be afraid. I will provide for you and your children.”

Luke 6:27–28 (NIV84)

“But I tell you who hear me: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you."
