Take A Stand - Trust

Tom Harding

Sermon Notes

To lead us from the way of Jesus: Spirit and Truth.

Ephesians 6:13-14

Put on every piece of God’s armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then after the battle you will still be standing firm. Stand your ground, putting on the belt of truth and the body armor of God’s righteousness.

1 Peter 5:8–9

Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour. Stand firm against him, and be strong in your faith.

Matthew 24:9–13

Many false prophets will appear and deceive many people. Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold, but he who stands firm to the end will be saved.

Deceptive Ideas (Devil) > Disordered Desires (Flesh) > Sinful Society (World)

There was a time 80% of Americans believed the Government would do the right thing if given the opportunity and choice. Today, that same number is at 17% and declining.

Trust is the currency of any relationship.

One of the major strategies of the evil one in our culture, is to create a default in us to distrust in order to get you and me to stop trusting what God says about who he is and who we are.

Psalm 37:4–5

Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you your heart’s desires. Commit everything you do to the Lord. Trust him, and he will help you.

Isaiah 12:2

See, God has come to save me. I will trust in him and not be afraid. The Lord God is my strength and my song; he has given me victory.

Hebrews 13:8

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.

Hebrews 11:1

Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.

Faith means both to believe and to be faithful to the belief.

James 2:19

You say you have faith, for you believe that there is one God. Good for you! Even the demons believe this, and they tremble in terror.

Proverbs 3:5–6

Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.

Trust means to commit, to deposit

Faith says “I believe” while trust says “I commit to that belief.”

Colossians 1:27

To them God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory. Christ in you, the hope of glory.

Where is God calling you to take a stand by trusting him?
