Foundation #1
Jesus and the law of the Old Testament, are not in opposition to each other.
Matthew 22:37–40
Jesus replied, “‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. A second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ The entire law and all the demands of the prophets are based on these two commandments.”

The Ten Commandments are not a ladder but a mirror.
Foundation #3
The Ten Commandments reveal we need saving, we need Jesus.
The law of God shows me I’m a sinner, and sends me to Jesus for salvation. Jesus returns me to the law, to show me the way life works.
Exodus 20:7 (KJV)
Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain; for the Lord will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.
Exodus 20:7 (NLT)
“You must not misuse the name of the Lord your God. The Lord will not let you go unpunished if you misuse his name.
A name is a summary of what those individuals are to us.
Exodus 33:13
If it is true that you look favorably on me, let me know your ways so I may understand you more fully and continue to enjoy your favor.
Exodus 33:19
The Lord replied, “I will make all my goodness pass before you, and I will call out my name, Yahweh, before you.
Exodus 34:5–6
Then the Lord came down in a cloud and stood there with him; and he called out his own name, Yahweh. The Lord passed in front of Moses, calling out, “Yahweh! The Lord! (Yahweh) The God of compassion and mercy! I am slow to anger and filled with unfailing love and faithfulness. I lavish unfailing love to a thousand generations. I forgive iniquity, rebellion, and sin. But I do not excuse the guilty.
Exodus 3:13
. . . “If I go to the people of Israel and tell them, ‘The God (Elohim) of your ancestors has sent me to you,’ they will ask me, ‘What is his name?’ Then what should I tell them?”
Exodus 3:14
God replied to Moses, “I Am Who I Am. Say this to the people of Israel: I Am has sent me to you.”
Jeremiah 10:6
Lord, there is no one like you! For you are great, and your name is full of power.
Philippians 2:9–10
Therefore, God elevated him to the place of highest honor and gave him the name above all other names, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue declare that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
Matthew 15:18
But the things that come out of the mouth come from the heart, and these make a man ‘unclean.’
Matthew 6:9
This, then, is how you should pray: “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name…”
Confession—I have misused your name.
Acceptance—I believe in you and your name to be saved.
Adoration—God is always present. He hears everything.
