Sermon Notes
Worship is a response to what we value most.
You were created to worship God.
Romans 12:2 (NIV) Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.
To live a life of worship requires a commitment to obedience.
Joshua 1:7,8 (NIV)Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go. Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.
Matthew 11:28–30 (NIV)“Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light”
To live a life of obedience requires a commitment to love
1 John 5:3 (NIV) For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments. And his commandments are not burdensome.
John 14: 15“If you love me, keep my commands.
John 14:21“Whoever has my commands and keeps them is the one who loves me…”
John 14:23Jesus replied, “Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them.
John 14:24Anyone who does not love me will not obey my teaching.
Mark 12: 28-30 One of the teachers of the law came and heard them debating. Noticing that Jesus had given them a good answer, he asked him “Of all the commandments, which is the most important?”
The most important one is this: ‘Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength
To live a life of love requires a commitment to knowing.
John 17:3 (NIV)Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.
Matthew 7:21-23 (NIV)“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’
Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’
Know, him, when you begin to understand the depths of who he is, you will fall in
Love, with him, you will be consumed with Him, and you will have no problem to
Obey him, your capacity will increase as God transforms your heart and you will
Worship in everything you do
