• “Do you have any work? Can I clean your house?”

I was about twenty-three when Ms. Christlin knocked on the front door of my small apartment in Haiti, and I had never been asked something like this. I really didn’t need someone to clean my home. I was managing just fine, and I felt a little odd hiring someone to do something I can do myself.

  • Beth Moore, founder of Living Proof Ministries, was quoted on marriage: “If destruction fails to entangle us, distraction will do its best.” It’s easy for me to think I’m blessed because I don’t have a gambling problem, a drug or alcohol addiction, an affair or other secret sin in my life like my brother, friend, or neighbor does.

  • I’ve been on a journey of sorts lately.

I have practices in my life to help me spiritually that I genuinely enjoy.
