Project 20 - November 2022 Update

Written by Pastor Rob Campbell

Hello ALIVE!

As we talk about PROJECT 20 with people who haven’t heard about it before, they are like….what? 20
Christ-centered communities in 10 years? I mean, isn’t that a lot? Our answer is a wide-eyed emphatic
“yes!” It’s a God-sized vision that requires God showing up and doing a powerful, sustained, multi-
faceted work in our midst. So far in year one, we have three Christ-centered communities started and
more brewing in the pipeline.

PROJECT 20 truly embodies ALIVE’s mission, vision and strategy. Spiritually hungry people need a place
to ask their faith questions and find their personal relationship with Jesus. Then, they need to find their
place in healthy Christian community. New churches help us to expand our reach into places that need
a church family like ours. We share a sense of expectancy that God is doing something extraordinary by
opening new doors into growing communities. So we ask and pray: where will our next Christ-centered
communities be and who will lead them?

We are currently working on a potential church plant in Greenwood and a “church within a church”
Hispanic church plant in Spartanburg county, all while growing our current Christ-centered
communities #1 in West Greenville, #2 in Candler, NC, and #3 in Spartanburg/Boiling Springs.

Upstate Community Church (CCC #3) led by Connor Guerzini has just completed a major work day in
Spartanburg preparing the building for renovation. Pastor James Henderson and a team from Graham
Chapel, led by Greg Edmonds put in a solid construction day in the main auditorium making room for
additional seating.

WEST CITY Church (CCC #1) continues to build the core team in the pre-launch phase, meeting 2 times
per month at Unlocked Coffee in West Greenville through the end of 2022. WEST CITY’s biggest prayer
need is for its next-step location in 2023.

Christ-Centered Community #2, Mt Moriah in Candler, NC, has doubled their attendance and is now
taking their next step in calling a Host Pastor who can grow with them as a local church. Our strategic
partnership with Mt Moriah includes close cooperation with NC West District.

A Note from Pastor Tom

“PROJECT 20 is more than just a goal. It is a philosophical change in thinking, programming and DNA here at ALIVE. This change will shape how we raise up new leaders and send them out... the risk is worth taking.”
