Sermon Notes
How does one move from corporate religion to personal relationship?
John 3:16
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
“It was there I first started to pay attention not just to the saving work of God, what happened to me as a child, but also to the sanctifying work of God.”
“My heart an altar and your love the flame.”
If my first altar experience was a Savior experience, my sanctification experience was a Lord experience.
Who is Jesus
Who is this man?
Mark 8:27–29
“Who do people say I am?” They replied, “Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, one of the prophets.” “But what about you?” he asked. “Who do you say I am?” Peter answered, “You are the Christ.”
Why Jesus came
First step in discipleship—to know who Jesus is.
Second step in discipleship—to find out who we are.
The selfish spirit has become cleansed and become one of sacrificial devotion.
“It is the end of our own self will and our attempts to meet the needs of the world on our own. It is the cross! As we die to our own will, we begin to know the Spirit’s divine power. We begin to live as true disciples of Jesus, filled with his Spirit and sharing his love.”

I know I have been saved, but have I been sanctified?
I know who Jesus is but have allowed Jesus to have who I am?
I know God corporately, but do I know God intimately?
