  • I have been surprised by grief.  The countless opportunities I have had to help guide people through the grieving process certainly prepared for much of what my own grief would offer. I get the anger, the denial.

  • The turn of the year is always a great time to reflect on the previous year.  It is important to realize we are never standing still, but always in motion.

  • I sure enjoyed the Baptisms last Sunday!  What a special time (as it always is) to celebrate those who decided to go public in their faith. I know with the busy Sunday morning schedule, everyone is not always able to be a part of these times, but a good many of you were, and that was exciting.

  • Do you remember being baptized or have you ever been baptized?

I will tell you why I ask these questions.  I am fond of saying baptism is where you identify you are part of the tribe of believers.  It is a public expression of what God has done in our hearts.  To use the terminology of our current series, baptism is where we let the world know, we have said “yes” to the dance.

  • I had lunch today with a church planter, someone who is interested in beginning a new work in the Upstate.  It was great to hear his vision and passion, his desire to be obedient with his life and to be willing to go wherever God calls.  I am learning to value these times and it doesn’t seem like too long ago, I was sitting on his side of the table with the same hopes and dreams
